India’s impressive run in the ongoing T20I series against Afghanistan has translated into significant gains in the latest ICC rankings, with Abhishek Sharma climbing to second place among batters and Varun Chakravarthy breaking into the top five among bowlers.The defending T20 World Cup champions have secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series in Delhi, with several players making their mark across the first two matches. Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel and Sanju Samson have also moved up the rankings following their performances.

Abhishek Sharma rises to No. 2, Varun Chakravarthy enters top five

Abhishek has been one of India’s standout performers in the series, with his explosive 82-run knock in the opening match helping him move up one place to second in the latest ICC T20I batter rankings.The left-hander has overtaken Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan and now trails teammate Ishan Kishan, who continues to occupy the top spot. The two Indian batters are separated by 51 rating points. Sanju Samson has also made progress, climbing four places to 30th after scoring a half-century in the second T20I.India’s bowlers have enjoyed a significant boost as well. Varun Chakravarthy has moved up two places to fifth, while Bumrah has climbed seven spots to enter the top 10 at 10th. Arshdeep Singh has made an 11-place jump to 14th, while Axar Patel has risen six places to 27th in the latest T20I bowling rankings.Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai has also made progress in the T20I all-rounder rankings after scoring an unbeaten half-century in the series opener.

Nathan Ellis, Matthew Renshaw make gains in ODI rankings

Australia’s players have also made notable progress in the latest ODI rankings following their 59-run victory over Zimbabwe in the series opener in Harare. Pacer Nathan Ellis has climbed 20 places to 20th in the ODI bowling rankings after claiming a five-wicket haul in the contest.Matthew Renshaw, who was named Player of the Match for his impressive 109-run knock, has made a significant leap in the ODI batter rankings. The left-hander has moved from outside the top 100 to 68th. Youngster Cooper Connolly has also climbed nine places to 77th after contributing 51 runs while batting at No. 3 against Zimbabwe.

Ollie Robinson reaches career-high ranking in Test cricket

England pacer Ollie Robinson has achieved a new career-high rating in the latest ICC Test rankings after an impressive performance in the recently concluded three-match home series against Pakistan.Robinson has climbed two places to third in the Test bowling rankings after claiming 21 wickets across the series. His England teammate Josh Tongue has also moved up two spots to 11th, earning a career-best rating after taking 19 wickets during the series.Robinson’s contributions with the bat have also been recognised, with his timely half-century in the third Test in Birmingham helping him climb seven places to 13th in the Test all-rounder rankings. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has moved up two places to 13th in the Test batter rankings, while Shan Masood has climbed four spots to 37th.England wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith has also made progress, rising three places to 20th after scoring a half-century in the first innings of the third Test.
